Known as "The Isle of Eternal Dawn", Ardoris is located in the southeast area of the continent along the Perennial Coast and is located in a river delta between the rivers Tempest and Rage. Over the centuries it was built up on the network of islands that covered the marshy river delta much like the Venice of Earth. It is a beautiful city of canals that draws its power from the water of the two rivers that bracket it, as well as a system of aqueducts from the surrounding mountains. Across the rivers are mighty cliffs that are topped by a pair of identical castles that face each other: The Palace of the Mountain to the west is home to the Shogun Siranto, and the Palace of the Winds to the east is home to the High Priestess Khasi.

Ardoris is the capitol of a Shogunate that covers most of the Perennial Coast. Because of that, it is one of the most well-defended cities in all of Novia. There are two moon towers and a very large contingent of guards. They are divided into five corps, each devoted to pursuing a different virtue, and different duties. These corps are the Azure Dragon, Black Turtle, Vermillion Bird, White Tiger, and Yellow Dragon

The Isle of Eternal Dawn is also home to Sequanna, the Titan of Love. Sequanna's influence has shaped Ardoris in the past, but no one has seen her as of late. Her absence may be affecting the town. While the Shogun and the Priestess are married and rule jointly, rumor has it that they are estranged and now reside separately. Rumor has it that the feud has something to do with the Necropolis, the largest concentration of undead in Novia, which is not too far to the west of Ardoris.[1]

Lore[edit]

City of Sequanna, the Titan of Love. The port of Ardoris is a center commerce and culture, known for its majestic ancient canals. In the wake of an attack by the undead, its rulers are now divided by mistrust and rumor…[2]

History[edit]

In the era depicted in Blade of the Avatar, Ardoris is a shogunate ruled by Shogun Tsuneo, and was considered the second greatest city-state in the region (behind only Midras).

Housing Lots[edit]

Lots within this town can only be claimed with Place Anywhere (PA) lot deeds.

Trivia[edit]

  • Ardoris, the waterfront city on the main continent filled with canals and framed by two opposing castles, will now be available to players.[3]
  • The architecture of Ardoris is based on the canals of Venice.
  • A series of row houses were sold in the Add-On Store based on Ardoris' architecture. These included a 2-story, 3-story, and 4-story Blue Tile Roof Row House.
  • The culture of Ardoris is based on feudal Japan, ruled by a shogunate with a strong caste system.
  • In Release 37, the visuals for Ardoris was polished and made more distinct from the rest of the game. This included adding an Asian-themed asset pack for Unity. Over the course of Release 37 and Release 38, those assets (along with the new character assets) will be propagated throughout the Perennial Coast region to give that entire region its own distinct visual identity.[4]
  • Ardoris Plague: A horrific plague hit the town of Ardoris and devastated the population there. Only a fraction of the humans and animals survived. Even the gondoliers, whose constitutions were the hardiest, were not immune. Please refrain from civic disorder while Siranto and Khasi work towards recruiting the guards that were lost. In all seriousness we had to significantly reduce the NPC population for performance reasons.[5]
