Located across the lake from the Tower of the Shuttered Eye, Nivenshire Han ("domain") is a community loyal to Ardoris's Shogun Siranto where residents work, fight, pray, and play for the Virtues according to the Five Precepts of Titan Virtuism. The Duke of Moorstow, William Goatsbeard, is the Daimyo ("feudal lord"); however, he is an elderly man and it is not a well kept secret that he suffers from dementia. As a daimyo, he chooses to fulfil his sankin (“Ardoris residence”) duties under the Shogun’s Sankin-Kōtai (“alternate residence”) policy so he has appointed the Earl of Carr Llan, Archibald Leatherneck, as Shugodai ("deputy military governor") to govern Nivenshire Han in his stead. Archibald is ambitious and intends that Nivenshire should become something greater and he relies on the the other Karo ("chief retainers") officers to achieve this.
Amongst Archibald's companions is Lord Opal Kirklove who is the founding cleric of Titan Virtuism. Titan Virtuism venerates the Titans as patron saints for their respective Virtues. In addition to the exemplary Titan Saints, Titan Virtuism has Five Precepts:
- Embody Virtue while shunning Vice and Perversion. - Honor the innate value and dignity of all creatures with Love. - Overcome fear with unflinching Courage in the face of adversity. - Seek Truth in a humble manner without prejudice. - Pursue a virtuous community.
