Faun is a hostile/neutral faun creature. These creatures were originally used and created by transformational magics by the Cabal of Obsidians.

  • When a Satyr is near by a Faun, they will try and cast a Confuse and Root effect on the player. They will also try to cast healing spells on any damaged friendly near by creatures.
  • After a near by Satyr is killed, the Faun will sometimes continue to attack the player casting Confuse and Root effects, or sometimes try to run away.

Lore[edit]

In every army there are those who lead, and those who are led. The brutal nature of the Obsidians only amplified this simple truth. Thus was the existence of the race known as Fauns, engineered to be slaves for their more aggressive masters, the satyrs; a pairing which has persisted to this day through a bond few understand. Yet there are rumors of a faun who has broken his chains… rumors which fauns whisper among themselves when left unsupervised.[1]
  • Fauns can produce a mystical song that weakens mortar, which the Obsidian Empire used as part of their siege tactics. Blade of the Avatar Chapter I: Midras page 12
  • They can also 'call' to gemstones, which causes their high-pitched voices to reverberate and resonate within crystalline structures in ways that they can hear. This allows them to find hidden treasure quite easily.(citation needed)

Trivia[edit]

  • Fauns will support their Satyr masters in combat and in some cases even fight for them. (The following is not currently present as of build 110) Fauns have a calming effect on the otherwise chaotic Satyrs. If the Satyrs become separated from their Fauns, they go berserk and attack all other characters (including each other potentially). Conversely, when Fauns are separated from their Satyr masters they stop all aggression and attempt to flee.[2]
  • In Blade of the Avatar it is known that Faun creatures were created by transformational magics by the Obsidians and used with their armies and operations. In the novel, Syenna claims Faun creatures were made from transformational magics on humans[3], however, she may have been mistaken, as no laboratory of the reshapers have been discovered yet currently in New Britannia, that have evidence they were created in such facilities from humans.
