SotAWiki:User Pages

User pages in SotA Wiki can be used to interact with other users, participate in discussions and share game related information. Your user page has a name like User:Example which can be accessed from the top of the page by clicking on your username or simply from Special:MyPage.

You should avoid excessive content on your user page that is not related to Shroud of the Avatar. Note that your user page can be seen by other users, so it is not recommended to post personal information about yourself.

Username

You choose your username when creating a user account. All contributions made using that account will then be attributed to the chosen username (contributions made while not logged in to any account are attributed to the user's IP address).

Your username is a nickname that will identify your account and thereby all of your contributions to Wikipedia. It can be your real name, if you so choose, but we strongly recommend using your Shroud of the Avatar username, which allows members of the community to be properly attributed. Wikipedia usernames are case sensitive, but the first letter is always automatically capitalized. By default, your username appears in your signature on posts to discussion pages. Bear in mind that, once chosen, a username cannot be easily changed.

The software will not allow you to register with a username that is already in use, or one that appears too similar to one that is already in use.

Your username can be virtually any string of characters (subject to a few technical limitations). However, it should be a name which other users will be comfortable with and which does not interfere with the project. A controversial name may give a bad impression to other users, and avoiding this is in your own interest. Usernames that can be considered offensive, misleading, or promotional are specifically disallowed, and may result in your username being blocked.

SotAwiki adheres to [wikipedia:Wikipedia:Username_policy|Wikipedia's Username policy] (but does not share a unified login with that system).

Password

Users, especially staff, should keep their accounts secure. If someone accesses your account and causes malicious damage, your reputation could be in trouble! Below are some tips on keeping your account secure:

1. Never give your SotAwiki password to anyone, not even users claiming to be sysop and staff!
2. Keep your computer up-to-date with the latest anti-virus and anti-spyware software.
3. Your password should be easy to remember, but hard to guess.
4. If you decide to log on using a public computer, remember to log out when done.
5. Be careful when running user scripts. Some scripts can be programmed to steal cookies and thus compromise accounts.

All users are strongly advised to maintain a strong password, however this is not a requirement for creating an account.

User talk pages

User talk (discussion) pages are for messages from, and discussion with, other users. You can access your discussion page from Special:MyTalk. When another user leaves a messages to your talk page, you will be notified:

You have a new message from another user. (last change).

Userboxes

Userboxes are small bordered boxes designed to appear only on user pages as an informative notice about the user. SotA Wiki's standard userboxes are:
