The Ankh of Virtue Necklace was added to the basic rewards of the Immortal Adventurer pledge tier[1]. The mystical Ankh has been the symbol of spiritual rebirth and eternal life in many cultures. Those on the path of virtue may elect to wear this as an outward sign of their choice to live a life of exemplary virtue!
Ultima Connection[edit]
In Richard Garriott's Ultima Series, the Ankh was the symbol of the virtue of spirituality, as well as the emblem of the Avatar and a symbol of Avatarhood. Ankh Amulets were often equipable items.[2][3]
Etymology[edit]
The Ankh, also known as key of life, the key of the Nile or crux ansata (Latin meaning "cross with a handle"), was the ancient Egyptian hieroglyphic character that read "life". It represents the concept of eternal life, which is the general meaning of the symbol. The Egyptian Gods are often portrayed carrying it by its loop, or bearing one in each hand, arms crossed over their chest. The origin of ankh is highly debated and it is represented by an oval or point-down teardrop set atop a T shape.[4]
