Pattern
| Pattern: Ancient Montante example. | |
| Pattern Weight: 0.1 |
A Pattern is a document that can by applied to certain items in order to modify the appearance of these items (it only modifies the visual presentation of the item; it does not alter the stats of the item). A pattern document can only be applied to same type of item from which it derived. For example, a Pattern: Skull Sword (which is derived from a one-handed Skull Sword), can only be applied to a one-handed sword. The sword to which the "Pattern: Skull Sword" is applied will take on the appearance of the Skull Sword.
Pattern Types[edit]
There are two types of Patterns: a destructible pattern (which is labeled as "Pattern" in-game) and an Eternal Pattern.
- Destructible Pattern - When a Destructible Pattern is applied to an item, the pattern document is consumed in the process. When an item with a Destructible Pattern is salvaged, it will never yield the pattern document back (i.e. the pattern is permanently destroyed upon salvage).
- Eternal Pattern - When an Eternal Pattern is applied to an item, the pattern document is consumed in the process. When an item with an Eternal Pattern is salvaged, it will always yield the pattern document back (i.e. pattern is never destroyed upon salvage).
Applying a Pattern[edit]
To apply a pattern, you will need to use the appropriate "Reshape" recipe at the appropriate Crafting Station. At the Crafting Station, select the Modifications category, and then select the relevant "Reshape" recipe. The Avatar starts the game with the "Reshape" recipes already in the recipe book.
Gear Patterns Flexibility[edit]
- All Armor patterns can be applied to any type of armor (Cloth, Leather, Chain or Plate). These are now Universal Armor Patterns.
- All Cloak Slot patterns can be applied to any type of Cloak Slot items (Cloak, Backpack, Quiver, Wings). These are now Universal Cloak Slot Patterns.
- All weapon patterns can only be applied to the specific type of weapon item (Bludgeon, Ranged, Polearms, Blades or Shield).
Found or Purchased[edit]
- Basic Patterns can be found from salvaging some Crafted armor, salvaged looted Armor and Weapons and salvaged shields purchased from NPC's.
- NOTE: Salvaging looted armor and weapons only have a chance to yield a pattern from the item.
- Eternal Patterns can be purchased in the Crown Shop in game.
Recovery of a Pattern from an item[edit]
- Recovery of a pattern from an item that specifically states it will yield a pattern, can be done in two different ways:
- You can salvage the item at an appropriate Crafting Station, which will destroy the item. This will give you the specified pattern that was stated on the item.
- You can use a Pattern Remover on the item, which will not destroy the item. This will give you the specified pattern stated on the item back, and revert the item back to it's base unmodified form.
Trivia[edit]
- Patterns were added for Release 39 and were focused on Patterns for gear (armor and weapons).
- To celebrate the launch of the Patterns system, we are releasing our first pattern the Ornate Flamberge for a limited time! Our very own Fletcher “Skullmuncher” Kinnear designed this beautiful sword and it will only be available through the end of the Spring Telethon. Flamberge Pattern Packs, as well as the weapon itself (with the eternal pattern inside), will be available for purchase in the Add-On Store.[1]
- In release 86, the restrictions of patterns on specific armor types and cloak slot item types was removed. Weapons however are still restricted to the specific weapon type (Ranged, Bludgeon, Blades and Polearm).[2]
