Comet

The Comet (also known as Aether Comet) is a celestial object that appears in the sky of New Britannia for for several months per year (in real-life time), often May through September. While the comet is visible in the sky, certain zones may spawn Aether Creatures, including the Aether Dragon, Aether Corpion, Aether Lich, and Aether Tetra.

As the comet comes closer to New Britannia (i.e. the larger it appears in the sky), the chance of spawning aether creature becomes more likely. As the comet moves farther away from New Britannia (i.e. the smaller it appears in the sky), the chance of spawning aether creature becomes less likely. When the comet is not visible in the sky, aether creatures do not spawn.

• A nearby two-tailed comet is having a number of unusual side effects on locale fauna. Creatures of many regions are bolder and more ferocious, including unicorns, wyverns, and the like. Further, several variant anomalies have appeared... named the aether dragon, aether lich, and aether corpion by my peers. If traveling across the wilderness was mildly dangerous before, now it will be swiftly fatal for most adventurers!
• Rumors of a new celestial occurrence swirl amongst the inhabitants of New Britannia. Strange portents in the sky herald changing conditions in the world around them as enemies grow stronger and stranger!
• Astronomers agree that, based on observations of the movement of the comet, the closest approach to Novia will be sometime near the end of the Earth month of August, after which time it will begin to recede again. They predict that its approach will result in an increase in meteor activity around this time. Its proximity to New Britannia has already had an ever-increasing influence on the creatures of the world. In some cases it is merely increasing their power, but in a few cases it is actually mutating them into entirely new creatures. Three new creatures have been spotted in Novia and the Hidden Vale: Aether Dragons, Aether Corpions, and Aether Liches. It is rumored that there are rare rewards for defeating these new creatures…
