Ardoris Sewers - A Tour Guide[edit]
The Ardoris Sewers
Three blackouts in as many days. It appears as though the noxious fumes of the Ardoris sewers are finally taking their toll on me. The thick acrid air that permeates the ground beneath the great city is repulsive beyond description, but like anything else, one can get use to it if they spend as much time as I have searching...
My memories are clouded by both the duration in which I lay incapacitated, and the hallucinogenic effects of the rank stagnant vapors that are formed when human waste and the remains of the living stew and ferment in the dark, still and sweltering subterranean tunnels.
But I know it's here! I entered this area from the catacombs, the Solania catacombs if memory serves. If only I had not "lost" my journal!
It was stolen from me, if truth be told, as I lay unconscious. Good to see that the virtues are still held in high regard.
I should mention that I am not the only one travelling these parts. Legend has it that hundreds of years ago, after the fall, the survivors of Novia fled underground to protect themselves from the horrors that remain on the surface.
For generations they lived below, surfacing only to scavenge whatever they could to survive. It's been said that over the course of this time, the survivors connected the various sewers, dungeons, caves and crypts so that they could travel from one end of Novia to the other, completely underground and undetected.
I have mapped out much of this already, but alas, my journal...
I've decided I will no longer carry my journal with me, but several smaller ones, that I will hide behind a rock or loose stone, in each of the areas I explore. Should misfortune befall me, my old friend and travel companion Digit, who runs the oddities shop in Ardoris will know where to find them.
Just know that travel in these parts is not safe as bandits have taken-up residence here in recent years, and use these tunnels to smuggle their wares into Ardoris, undetected and with impunity.
The undead also patrol these tunnels, as well as slimes whose eradication tends to lead to their multiplication.
But like a moth to a flame I must continue my search and seek out the secret passage that leads to the Solania Catacombs. It's maddening really... I am certain of where the entrance lies, but alas, I cannot find it! Can it be that the secret door only works in one direction?
Wait! I hear a noise... I will write more later.
