The Bug Brigade (previously known as the Testing Incentives Program) is group of players that report bugs and/or do testing of fixes, updates, or new content.

You must sign up to join the Bug Brigade. In-game digital rewards are given to players who actively participate in testing and reporting for the Bug Brigade.

For details about the Bug Brigade, a complete list of rewards, and how to report bugs, see this post in the SOTA forums.

The Bug Brigade has been holding a yearly in-game party to celebrate the participants. The party generally has fun, games, and music. The attendees are awarded with a special "Bug Brigade Anniversary Cloak" with the year appended to its name.

Historical Information About The Bug Testing Program[edit]

Portalarium began a "Testing Incentives Program" in September 2016 with QA Server and Live Server testing (Release 34). Each Release, contributors who engaged in testing and reporting bugs were eligible for rewards.[1]

The testing program was suspended in August 2017 (Release 44),[2] but then reinstated September 2017 (Release 46) for testing only on the QA Server.[3]

However, the "Testing Incentives Program" ceased to exist shortly thereafter without any explanation by the prior management, and many rewards went undelivered.

Under new management, a bug testing program was re-started in August 2020, and called "The Bug Brigade" [4], in which players who tested and reported bugs could receive exclusive rewards. With the new management and the new bug brigade, bug processing and bug fixing by the developers has been far more efficient and effective, and the rewards have been delivered.

The following Titles, that were awarded during the "Testing Incentives Program", are no longer available:

  • Pest Controller
  • Expert Pest Controller
  • Master Pest Controller
  • Royal Pest Controller
