Community:Scholars of Novia/Submissions General Rules
The following rules are used for all content submissions to the Scholars of Novia, unless otherwise noted.
Names of other Players, Characters or "Devs:" Content should not refer to any other player, player’s character or "dev" without the express permission of the player, the character's player or the "dev" in question. Obviously, there will be common sense exceptions to this rule -- referring to the location known as the FireLotus Tavern will not be seen as an unauthorized reference to the "dev" known as FireLotus. We will deal with these on a per-case basis.
Terms of Service: As authored submissions are being made within the SotA forum, submissions must not violate any of Portalarium's terms of service. This is not a directive of the Scholars of Novia; it is required for anyone to use the SotA forum and the game. The terms of service may be reviewed here. The Scholars of Novia will not recommend or publish any submission such as is pointed out as not being in compliance with these terms.
Working with the Scholars: By posting an entry for consideration by the Scholars of Novia, a player-author understands that he or she may be expected to work with members of the Scholars in order to edit the submitted text so that it meets both the literary and lore consistency standards of the Scholars. Moreover, at any time during the review process, a player-author may choose to withdraw his or her entry for any reason, and the Scholars shall immediately cease all review of the content in question. As a group of players, we, the Scholars of Novia reserve the right to refuse the submissions of any player-author who repeatedly withdraws submissions mid-review.
Past Submissions: All authors desiring their previously posted content to be submitted for a specific contest or other specific call for content must re-post their content to the specific thread for the contest or call. This will ensure the author truly wishes to submit their content for Scholars' review and consideration.
Permissions: Any player-author submitting content to the Scholars of Novia is granting the Scholars of Novia permission to post said content in four places:
- to a Finalized Submission Thread on the SotA forum
- to the SotA Wiki so long as the SotA Wiki is in persistence, either in the original language of the submission or translated into any existing or heretofore uncreated language and/or transcribed into any existing or heretofore uncreated code system (such as the runes of SotA).
- to the game as published books through in-game publishing mechanisms as part the Scholars’ mission to build an expansive library and promote an in-game literary culture.
- in hard-copy printed form to be used as mementos containing the same information available publicly in the previous three digital methods.
