Experience
Experience points are often abbreviated as "XP".
Adventure Experience points are acquired by completing quests, killing creatures, Meticulous Collection when Gathering, and using a Book of Learning.
Producer Experience points are acquired by completing quests, Gathering, Refining, Crafting, and using a Book of Learning.
As you acquire XP, it is initially stored in your Experience Pools (Adventurer XP is initially stored in your Adventurer Experience Pool, whereas Producer XP is initially stored in your Producer Experience Pool). These pools can be seen by opening the Skills Window, and then clicking on either the "Adventuring" tab (for the Adventurer Pool) or the "Crafting" tab (for the Producer Pool). You can also see these pools by typing "/xp" (without the quotes) in the chat window (this method will also show your "shared pool", which is described below).
As you learn Adventurer Skills (i.e. raise the level of these skills), the XP is transferred from the adventure pool and into the skills being learned.
As you learn Producer (Crafting) Skills (i.e. raise the level of these skills), the XP is transferred from the producer pool and into the skills being learned.
So, the purpose of acquiring XP is to eventually utilize the XP to raise the Avatar's skills (thus making the Avatar more powerful and more proficient).
How Experience is Distributed Among Party Members[edit]
Earned Adventurer Experience is divided evenly between party members without regard to player level. When an enemy is slain, all nearby party members share an equal part of the total XP awarded. The total XP awarded is calculated by:
- Total XP Awarded = (50% of the creature's base XP value) + [(number of players in party) x (25% of the creature's base XP value)]
For example, a party of two would split 100% of the creature's base XP: 50% base + (2 party members x 25%). A party of eight would split 250% the creature's base XP: 50% base + (8 party members x 25%).
Party bonuses only apply for those within 40 meters of the slain enemy.

Adventurer Level[edit]
Adventurer level reflects the avatar's total accumulated Adventure Experience. The amount of XP required to reach the next adventurer level increases nearly exponentially. For example, to go from adventurer level 50 to 51, you must gain 106,571 XP, whereas you must gain 12,510,549 XP to go from adventurer level 100 to 101. See the charts posted in the SOTA forum that depict the amount of XP required to achieve each adventure level: Adventurer Level 1-120 Table
Adventurer level effects several of the avatar's attributes, some of which have not been made public. Some of the known effects are listed below. Each additional adventure level adds to the following attributes.
- Health points
- Focus points
- Health Regeneration
- Focus Regeneration
- Block an attack
For items that can provide a buff that temporarily increases Adventurer Level, see Adventurer Level.
Your Adventurer level is also factored into the color of your enemy's name/title (which roughly reflects how powerful the creature is compared to your avatar). The color ranking of an enemy's title is as follows:
- Red - far more powerful than your avatar.
- Orange - moderately more powerful than your avatar.
- Yellow - slightly more powerful than your avatar.
- Green - equally or less powerful than your avatar.
- Grey - your enemy is dead!
Producer Level[edit]
Producer level reflects the avatar's total accumulated Producer Experience. The amount of XP required to reach the next adventurer level increases nearly exponentially.
Account-Based Subdivisions of Experience Pools[edit]
Most XP is awarded to the currently active character on an account. However, some XP is awarded to the account (and thus can be shared by all characters on the account). An example of XP that is awarded to the account is the daily log-in XP reward (every day that you log into Shroud of the Avatar, will earn the characters you play 10,000 experience points for the initial character and 2,500 for each additional character on the same account. These points will be added to the shared pool).
Both the Adventurer Experience Pool and Producer Experience Pool have three different account-based subdivisions:
- Pooled Experience (Character) - This XP is available only to the currently active character, and the XP cannot be used by other characters on the account.
- Pooled Experience (Shared) - This XP is available to all characters on the same account, so the XP is shared amongst these characters.
- Pooled Experience (Total) - this is the sum of the character pool and shared pool, and represents the total amount of XP that is available to the currently active character.
You can view these pools in the chat window by typing "/xp" (without the quotes) in the chat window.

Trivia[edit]
- Experience was added in Release 11, but only for combat. In Release 12, experience for quests was added.
- Player Kvow started a list of experience earned for various creatures in various locations of Release 11, which was used to populate the experience values of many of the creatures in the wiki.[1]
