Eye of the Scales
Spoiler warning: Plot details for Blade of the Avatar follow.
The Eye of the Scales is an Avatar Blade found by Aren Bennis in a tomb beneath Midras. It is a longsword with a circular pommel, inscribed with the three-linked sword symbol in black. Runes adorn the fuller which, once Aren takes the blade, glow purple, shift and change. Unlike other Avatar Blades, this one has a symbol on the pommel near the end of the hilt, which depicts only one curved sword rather than three.
This sword reflects three of the principle Virtues, espoused by the Avatars from before the Fall, one of which is ‘true sight’. This power strips away the facade of pretense to to see the underlying truth; a viewpoint beyond personal bias or prejudice. This causes the wielder to gain great insight for those they view, which often causes them to stay their hand rather than fight. The wielder empowers the sword; honesty opens this aspect of the sword. The sword has two other aspects, but they are currently unknown.
Some texts say that Eye of the Scales was wielded by Lord British in ancient times, while others assign it to other Avatars of legend.
