The Weasel in the Granary V. II
Miss weasel with a body land and long,
Crept to a granary through narrow hold;
She had been sick, but there she soon got strong,
For there she rioted without control.
She gnawed and ate and ample share,
Nor did the hams and bacon spare;
In fine, such happy cheer she found,
She soon got fat, full-faced, and round.
A few days after, full of dinner-fare,
She hard a noise, and sought the hole again;
But all her efforts to get out were in vain.
"Im quite surprised," she said; "this hold, I know,
I passed through, sure, five or six days ago!"
A rat, who saw her in her trouble, said,
"Your body was then lankly like your snout;
You entered lean, and lean you must get out."
This case applies to many, I'm afraid;
But let us not such things confound,
By diving into matters too profound.
