The official Shroud of the Avatar chat is on a Discord] server. You can access it from the Shroud of the Avatar Chat page, or by signing into Discord directly. The server is also accessible to the right.

Navigation[edit]

Most communication is done through the General channel. From here, you can communicate with other players, as well as occasionally chat with developers.

The Hospitallers (Help) channel is used for players who need assistance. The Hospitallers monitor this channel and will attempt to help new and struggling players.

Community events are often discussed in the Events channel.

There channels dedicated to adventuring, generally broken up into regions. You can use these channels to find other players who might want to group.

The Devplus channel is used to discuss pre-release items, as well as discuss things related to the Beta server. If you have backed the game at a level where you have access to the Dev+ forum, you can request access to this channel in this thread.

Change Nickname: It is recommended that you use the same nickname on the SotA chat server as you use on the SotA forums (or in-game). To change your nickname for a specific server, right-click on the server icon and select Change Nickname. You can have a unique nickname on each Discord server.

The Shroud of the Avatar community is quite involved on Discord, and you can generally find players available at most hours.

Shroud Discord Bot (SotAbot)[edit]

When the IRC server was retired, the bot that provided several features was also lost. Ravalox and mercster have created a new Discord bot to bring back those features.

Commands:

!help: Use this to show a list of commands.
!time: Use this to see the current New Britannian Time.
!signon: Use this in the Hospitallers channel to advertise that you are ready to assist anyone who needs help.
!signoff: Use this in the Hospitallers channel to remove the status.
!rel or !r: Use this to display the Next Release Countdown.
!hangout: Use this to display the next community event.
!hangout postmortem: Shows the next postmortem live stream event date and time.
!hangout telethon: Shows the next quarterly telethon event date and time.
!hangout inperson: Shows the next “In Real Life” event that includes Portalarium staff.
!flip: Flips a coin and shows the result.
!roll #d#: Rolls a multi-sided dice and shows the result.
!shoot User: Shoots at another user and shows the result.
!contact: Notify SotAbot’s admin of issues, or to just leave comments.
!credits: Display the names of those currently working on the SotAbot project and recognizing past contributors for their specific input.
