Naming[edit]

Generated with SMW?[edit]
Should we make this autogenerated like Denis Loubet? It doesn't have to be a slideshow.
- Downside: Makes people go to the image pages to add them to the gallery. May be confusing.
- Upside: Forces people to actually fill out a minimal amount of information about the image they uploaded. -- Fenyx4 (talk) 19:48, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
- I personally don't like the slideshow for pages and would rather have all the images listed individually. The slideshow would work for something like a spotlight or main page usage.
- On a related note, we need to flesh out the MediaWiki:Licenses templates. I started on them, but haven't got a chance to get back to it. Proper attribution is extremely important, especially since we're using copyrighted work on the wiki. Once the licenses are good, all the images on the wiki needs to be updated to cite the source. --Alianin (talk) 20:17, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
- I agree for the most part on not wanting a slideshow. I thought it might be useful on artist pages as they will have a lot of images. But, yeah, most pages shouldn't use the slideshow format.
- Any thoughts on autogenerating the galleries or not?

- I was trying to make this so I could create a gallery at the bottom of each item page somewhat automatically. If you want to fix it to be autogenerated, I'd much appreciate it. --Browncoat Jayson (talk) 20:29, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
- Ah, I see what you're saying about autogenerating it. I'm good with either method, though I can see the effort it'll take to get the information into the images to make the generator work. - For the uploader I think it would actually be easier. Upload the image, include {{Image}}. Make sure you add all the pages whose galleries you want it to show up on into the collection parameter. No need to go edit the page(s) you want it to show up on. -- Fenyx4 (talk) 20:42, 25 March 2014 (UTC)

- No problem. Sorry to jump ahead. I've just been neck deep in SMW. Let me know if you want me to post some tutorial stuff and/or some explanations of what I've already done. (The recipe stuff is frickin' crazy and although it needs to be done it isn't a good place to start learning.)

As an example Axe of Prosperity's gallery is now being autogenerated. Those image's show up there because, as you can see here File:SotA_Axe_Prosperity_small.jpg, the image has "Axe of Prosperity" in the collection. (I dunno if the icon needs to be shown in the gallery... But that can be a different discussion). Think I can roll this out? -- Fenyx4 (talk) 16:08, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
