Once entering Epitaph, you will be facing east. Proceed east and start down the stone ramp passed the armed prisoners. They serve as guards and do not attack. You will be proceeding downward, making turns along the way until reaching a stone bridge. This bridge is natural stone, not masonry seen thus far with 4 potted torches. Turn right while facing the bridge and look down to the bottom, you will observe two copper nodes. If able to jump down from here safely, do so and you will find the journal laying on the ground, between the nodes. If not, proceed all the way to the cavern at the base of the path where you will find crocodiles and slimes. At the open iron gate move east will take you to the sketch book.
There are 3 blue indicators for the quest on entering the dungeon. This location is confirmed, unsure if has 3 possible locations.
