The Broken Horse

Tina was a cute 6-year old girl who was very fond of wooden toys; especially the beautiful wood horse gifted by her uncle when she was 2 years old. The wooden horse had been her close pal and her pet.

One day, she went on a vacation to a nature resort in the woods with her family, including her 9-year old brother. She of course carried the wooden horse with her. She enjoyed her holiday with her family in the woods. But while she was packing things with her brother as they prepared to return home, the wooden horse fell to the floor and one of the legs were broken. Tina was very sad and cried for her horse.

They finished packing and left the woods, and though the entire family tried to cheer up the sweet little girl, Tina was still very upset.

The family stopped to have some lunch, but Tina was so upset, she refused to eat. Her mother pleaded with her to eat something, and she finally ate a very small amount of food, small sobs escaping her between bites.

Her brother turned to her, kissed her cheek and told her, "Tina dead, don't worry. Don't be so upset. It is only a wooden toy. The horse doesn't have a life like us and it is just a lifeless thing. Don't be so sad for the broken leg. Even if the horse loses its tail, it won't be hurting the horse. Even if all four legs are broken, the wooden horse remains same. Even if the horse loses its head, it won't be painful. I will buy a new wood horse for you!"

Tina replied, "You think it doesn't matter that a leg of my pet toy was broken?"

Her brother replied, "Exactly, my Sister!"

Tina replied, "Yes brother you are right. It would not be a problem for you even if the horse is broken into pieces, as to you, it is just a toy. But if you were me, and if you had a pet like I had, you would know how painful it is even if just a small part of your horse was broken!"
