Lanilan Stranthas was Loremistress of the Athenaeum of Opalis. She had thick, curly hair and large, dark eyes. As Loremistress, she was a consumate, if somewhat easily distracted, scholar.

Mistress Lanilan met with Gerad Zhal and Syenna, who had brought Aren Bennis to learn about his Avatar Blade. She confirmed that the blade once belonged to an Avatar, and revealed a distinction in his; the symbol on the pommel only showed one curved sword instead of three. She sought to research the blade's origin.
