Stephen Daniele is an artist passionate about the creative process, crafting an immersive and memorable experience, telling a story and building worlds through visual mediums.
History
A veteran game artist beginning at TSR, Inc. in the mid 90’s he was Art Director for such RPG titles as Dungeons & Dragons, Dark Sun and Ravenloft. After leaving TSR, Stephen started freelancing in 1998 for Wizards of the Coast’s Magic the Gathering Collectible Card Game. He has painted 29 Magic Cards including Stroke of Genius and Tolarian Academy.
Stephen joined Microsoft Game Studios in Seattle, Washington in 2000 and was an Environment/Concept Artist for Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge and Environment Art Lead for Shadowrun: The Awakening. Following Microsoft, Stephen joined Airtight Games as the Concept/Pre-visualization Art Lead for Dark Void and Art Director on Murdered: Soul Suspect. LightBox Interactive brought him to Austin, Texas where he was the Art Director for Starhawk.
Now Stephen is the Concept Art Lead on Richard Garriott’s newest game, Shroud of the Avatar. He has been demonstrating his art creation process and sharing his insights on a weekly YouTube show for Shroud of the Avatar https://www.shroudoftheavatar.com/?cat=9 since April 2013.
Other Projects
Throughout his career, Stephen has pursued commercial freelance art with many popular projects including: Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Magic the Gathering, Dungeons & Dragons, Tomb Raider, Indiana Jones, Giants, and The Hollow Earth Expedition.
Trivia
Pen of the Avatar
Stephen Daniele first featured three Art Time with Stephen Daniele series together with Community Manager Gina "FireLotus" Dionne on April 2013 in which he created some of the art concepts live. The series is ultimately named Pen of the Avatar by the community and as of January, there are more than 36 episodes.
