Magic Summons

Magic Summons are combat pets summoned by spells within the magic trees. There is an extremely informational forum post comparing the various Magic Summons

Summons List[edit]

Magic/Skill Enhancement[edit]

While magic summons do not make use of any taming skills, there are three skills within the Focus Skills tree to enhance your summon: Train Summoned Pet Damage, Train Summoned Pet Health, and Train Summoned Pet Resistance. Summons can also be enhanced by the following spells and skills: Strength of Earth, Air's Embrace, Enlightenment, Celestial Blessing, and Savage Sonata.

Equipment/Food Enhancement[edit]

Magic Summons are able to use Pet Equipment and can be significantly enhanced by using one or more Summoner Gems. Each summon also has a Summoned Creature Food that will provide benefits to the summon as well as the Avatar.

Healing[edit]

Magic summons can be healed using the healing spells from Life Magic, Melody of Mending, and Soothing Rain.

Issues/Cautions[edit]

  • When within a party there is a targeting bug where any healing spell that requires targeting will not target your summon even though you have it selected. This has been logged as an issue in the bug forum.
  • Magic summons do not generate aggro. This very important if you are planning on using a magic summon as the main DPS. It is a very delicate balance and is only really viable soloing (as you cannot heal adequately in a party). It can be done, but magic summons are best used as secondary DPS/support or if another party member will be the aggro focus. Updating the aggro for magic summons has been requested on the wishlist forum here and here.
  • While it may appear a summon is using a magic spell to attack, the damage being done by the main attack is actually physical damage. This is a design choice made by the development team and is not something that will change in the foreseeable future.
  • The earth elemental has an issue when positioning for its melee attack. There are times when it positions itself too far away for the melee attack to hit but will continue to try to use it and not reposition. You can use the pet teleport command to position the summon closer. This was a bug that was fixed, but appears to have resurfaced.
  • The magic summons combo spells that utilize Juxtapose will create a summon but will not use the level of the summon it was created from and instead use the level of created summon. Unfortunately this results in a significantly less powered summon unless your skill in the resulting summon is also high (which at that point you would just use the regular summon skill instead of the combo). This has been logged as an issue in the bug forum.
