Ultima interwiki redirect[edit]

The ultima:topic redirect doesn't seem to be working here as it does on the Ultima Forever site. In searching, all I could find about this was php settings that I don't look like I can access. Is this something you can fix, or should I contact WtF? --Browncoat Jayson (talk) 21:12, 28 October 2013 (UTC)

That is a me thing. Should be setup now. -- Fenyx4 05:22, 31 October 2013 (UTC)
Excellent, thanks! --Browncoat Jayson (talk) 19:47, 5 November 2013 (UTC)

Templates[edit]

So... thats a few templates you added. Anything you need me to do with my existing stuff to start using them? --Browncoat Jayson (talk) 22:29, 9 December 2013 (UTC)

Mostly I was just adding documentation for the stuff I had already created or organizing them into categories. Essentially the templates here on SotA were designed to be easier to create and modify than U4E's templates. U4E were made to be simpler than Ultima's. But U4E's fell apart once I the Semantic stuff and other unique cases got into the mix and it became really complicated again.
So, for a SotA infobox, you make it from building blocks. As you have seen you typically use {{Tableimage}} and {{Tablerow}} sandwiched between {{T|Tabletop and {{Tablebottom}}. This gives a lot more flexibility than U4E did. With U4E if you want to add another image to the, say, the bottom of one of the infoboxes then you have to change the base Infobox template. Already the base Infobox template is becoming bloated and hard to work with. We shouldn't get this problem with the building block model.
It also means you can make a lot of interesting building blocks! {{TablerowOptional}} is like Tablerow but if there is no value entered the row doesn't show up.
{{TablerowAsk}} and {{TablerowShow}} do the Semantic stuff you see on U4E for, like, Infobox Quests. Where you don't have to put the info in the infobox itself. It just grabs the values from properties in the article.
To come back to your question (sorry for taking so long), no, there is nothing you need to do to the existing stuff. I imagine that once we get more details we'll want to start using Semantic properties on here. -- Fenyx4 18:56, 10 December 2013 (UTC)

Semantic Query[edit]

Apparently, its been a while since I tried to do queries on the U4E wiki. I'm in the process of adding crafting items and recipes to the site, and I'd like to have a table of them available. I set up Blacksmithing Recipes, which has a query table similar to what we used on the U4E pages. However, it doesn't appear at all, despite having pages assigned to that Category and which include the property. I'm sure I broke something, but I'm not sure exactly what.

When you have a chance, can you look at the code and see what I did. It may just be as simple as switching to the new TablerowAsk and TablerowShow, but I couldn't quite figure out how to get those working either. Thanks! --Browncoat Jayson (talk) 22:47, 25 January 2014 (UTC)

You're gonna kick yourself when you see how small of a change was needed. There was a typo in the css but mostly it was the sort attribute that was messed up. -- Fenyx4 04:13, 27 January 2014 (UTC)
Hrm, just noticed we're having with redirects. Both Iron Ingots and Iron Bindings are considered to have the Property:Station of Crafting Station because Smelting Station and Blacksmith Station redirect there. So when we query by station they both show up no matter the station. I had to tweak the queries to not use the station property to make it work. -- Fenyx4 04:30, 27 January 2014 (UTC)
Awesome, thanks! I'll try to get the recipes that have been reported on the forums in here throughout the day. I was hoping the redirects would work, but Category works as well; maybe if we added a &redirect=no to prevent the redirect? Oh well, not going to mess with it while its actually working. --Browncoat Jayson (talk) 14:39, 27 January 2014 (UTC)
I just found a explanation for the redirects. It makes sense I guess but I don't think it is intuitive. I never have any time at home to play but if there is anything I can help with point me at it. -- Fenyx4 15:27, 27 January 2014 (UTC)
It looks like we will need to find a workaround for recipes with multiple of the same item, since neither listing the ingredient multiple times nor creating a redirect page for the multiple value will work to display an ingredients multiple times in the query. I'll do some searching once I get everything in and we can modify the pages as necessary.

Looking at Semantic MediaWiki help, it looks like we should be able to use the "Like" comparator (~) to do this, but it is failing for some reason. The only thing I was able to narrow it down to is that there is a space in the name. You can see it in action on my Sandbox page. I'm still looking at it, but thought I'd give you a heads up, in case you see anything I missed. --Browncoat Jayson (talk) 16:47, 28 January 2014 (UTC)

Good find! I tried replacing the space with a ? and it worked. Admittedly this would also match "HardenedZLeather" but that seems unlikely. But it doesn't make it easily templateable cuz {{PAGENAME}} wouldn't work. I'll poke at it a bit. -- Fenyx4 20:36, 28 January 2014 (UTC)
Hrm, I'll try bumping the version of Semantic Wiki soon. Maybe that'll fix it. -- Fenyx4 21:10, 28 January 2014 (UTC)

[edit]

Per our discussion, I was messing around with titles. For some reason, I'm drawn to the Oracle, despite it being depicted negatively in the lore so far. Here is my first attempt at a new header. --Browncoat Jayson (talk) 17:17, 17 February 2014 (UTC)

To go along with this, we could update the logo in the corner as well. I made one with the Oracle Head and one with the Avatar Symbol. --Browncoat Jayson (talk) 18:52, 17 February 2014 (UTC)
I like the direction this is going. I think I need to read the last couple chapters of BotA to get up to date. What are the chances of getting the header to look similar to the SotA header metal-wise? -- Fenyx4 21:21, 17 February 2014 (UTC)
What do you think of the SotA crest in the upper left with the brackets around it? -- Fenyx4 21:25, 17 February 2014 (UTC)
My art skills arn't up to the challenge of mimicing Stephen Daniele. I might be able to modify that crest tho... lemme see. --Browncoat Jayson (talk) 21:35, 17 February 2014 (UTC)
Wonder if we just asked him nicely... -- Fenyx4 21:46, 17 February 2014 (UTC)
Hehe. Here are a couple versions of the crest: With background and without one. --Browncoat Jayson (talk) 21:56, 17 February 2014 (UTC)
I like the one without a background! The silver of the brackets seems a bit off. I wonder if we could get the original source for the logo from Terilem so we could more easily change it to the goldish of Shroud's logo. -- Fenyx4 22:11, 17 February 2014 (UTC)
I tried to recolor it to gold, using the Shroud logo as a template. It isn't perfect, but it works. Here ya go. --Browncoat Jayson (talk) 15:17, 18 February 2014 (UTC)
No response from Terilem yet but I'm liking it? You? -- Fenyx4 20:11, 18 February 2014 (UTC)

Hey guys, I threw together a couple of variations:
File:SotAWiki1.png File:SotAWiki2.png
I'm more a fan of how it looks with the full colour shield, but hopefully either one of them can be of use. --Terilem (talk) 11:18, 20 February 2014 (UTC)

I like the full color one as well. Great job, Terilem. Thanks! --Browncoat Jayson (talk) 14:31, 20 February 2014 (UTC)
Sweet! I will put it up. -- Fenyx4 15:22, 20 February 2014 (UTC)

Lock?[edit]

It looks like you are getting topics moved over to SotAWiki now. Should we just go ahead and lock the wiki? --Browncoat Jayson (talk) 01:17, 6 March 2014 (UTC)

Ya, I wanted to get the templates 'n' such setup over there first. But I think I've got most if not all of them. Do you think it is ready? -- Fenyx4 01:59, 6 March 2014 (UTC)
I really need the kick to start editing over there. Their UI still bugs me; I'll miss our home page and new logo. But as long as I can edit here I probably will. LOL --Browncoat Jayson (talk) 02:51, 6 March 2014 (UTC)
Consider this your kick! :) -- Fenyx4 03:33, 6 March 2014 (UTC)
