Despair is a dark Dungeon full of powerful creatures, including Black Dragons, Polar Mutilator Bears, Ferocious Warp Spiders, and Ghost Corpions.

Despair can be reached via boats in Dysborg Ruins, Fishing Expedition, Fortus End, Mud, and Noreach.

Unique Aspects & Loot in Despair

• Recipe: Potion of the Master Death Mage - Despair is the only zone in which this recipe drops. It drops as loot from Elrin Nayer (a boss lich).
• Recipe: Potion of the Stalking Cat - Despair is the only zone in which this recipe drops. It drops as loot from the Elves. Note that a more potent version of this recipe (Recipe: Potion of the Stalking Cat, Aether) drops as loot in the Breach.
• Recipe: Iron Studded Strip of Leather - drops as loot from Liches and Skeletons in Despair.
• Wax Cylinder - Halls of Despair - only drops in this zone. Confirmed drops have come from Elrin Nayer (a boss Lich).
• Black Dragon - this is one of only 3 zones where the black dragon spawns (the other places are Southern Grunvald Barrens and Plains Encounter).
• Puzzles that must be solved in order to pass deeper into Despair.

When you get to the plateau where the gate is, face the gate, then run to the left until you fall off a cliff into some water. At one end of the water, there is a Spider nest. You have to kill all of the spider waves (the final wave includes a Ferocious Warp Spider). Killing the final wave of spiders will open the gate. Swim back into the water and click on the vine to get back up the cliff. Then run back to the gate. If you wait too long after you kill the final spider wave, the door will close...so run up there pronto!

Once you open the outer gate, the first part of the inner realm is waves of undead. You have to kill all of the boss Liches (I think there are 4), and this will allow you to pass through the magical barrier to the next area of despair.

There is no in game map for Despair. When you try to open the map, it states "The map shows a maze of twisty little passages, all alike..."
