This skill reduces the movement speed on a single target. If the root is strong enough, it can immobilize the target (i.e. reduce its movement rate to zero). In PVP, the effectiveness of the root is mostly determined by adventure level (so, if you fight a player that is higher adventure level than you, root is essentially useless). Duration of the root is increased by the caster having a higher earth attunement, a higher root skill level, a higher strength, and a higher earth specialization. The root duration is decreased by the target having a higher earth attunement and a higher strength.
Effect[edit]
- Reduces the movement speed on a single target.
- Range: 20
- +20% Resist Crowd Control on the target for 30 seconds- Resist crowd control will stack if you stun/knockdown/mesmerize/root/knockback the target within 30 seconds of the previous stun/knockdown/mesmerize/root/knockback (i.e. the resist crowd control accumulates). Note: This crowd control effect is not stated in the Tooltip.

Trivia[edit]
- When first introduced for PvP in Release 7, players could not break root easily. Jumping was then changed to break root, at the expense of a small amount of Focus.
